There is a fun little demo of CSS animation using hovers on CSS Play. It’s a pretty simple example but it’s definitely pretty clever. He says it’s the first CSS animation that he knows of and I can’t recall any that I remember so maybe he’s right. In any case maybe it will invoke some inspiration in your designs. For those of you with iPods with the Dock Connection, there’s a cool little gadget worth looking into called the Pocket Dock Combo. What this little thing is is an adapter for your iPod with Dock connection to use any standard USB or Firewire cable. Previous generation Pocket Dock’s only allow a USB connection or a Firewire connection. This is a convenient for those of you that like to transfer data to and from multiple computers. I have been following Darren Rowse’s blog ProBlogger for a few months now. I guess you could say he gave me some inspiration into moving into the whole blog format and for the most part I’m glad I did. A couple of days ago the NY Times had an article about MySpace’s approach to big profit. The domain name MySpace.com was purchased in 2002 by Chris DeWolfe. The site originally was used to sell a motor skooter. DeWolfe had experience in online marketing such as e-mail blasts and pop-up advertising. MySpace took a different approach. For those of you with high traffic sites or would like to add some redundancy to your MySQL database, clustering is a very good starting point. That is assuming that you have about 4 or 5 machines that you can spare. Howto Forge has a great tutorial on setting this up on 4 machines using MySQL 5 Cluster. The setup requires two storage nodes and one management node and two nodes for load balancing.
