Microsoft Left Jabs Google with Amazon Deal

May 4th, 2006

According to IT Wire, Microsoft has signed a deal with Amazon to replace Google’s search engine with Windows Live search on Amazon’s site. Amazon is one of the most visited sites on the web, double Microsoft’s and a quarter of Google’s.

This deal comes after Google has accused Microsoft of unfair play in its future Internet Explorer 7 browser. Google has to pay millions of dollars to have them in the search window of Firefox. Microsoft will have an advantage due to operation system saturation in the market.

I don’t really see why Amazon doesn’t use its own A9 search. They’ve probably put a lot of time, effort, and money into it. Sure it may not be as good as Google, Yahoo, or MSN, but it?s still their product. In any case, I suppose they want to provide the best product possible for their customer whoever creates the product.
