News Corp. Invests in Jobs Search Engine

April 21st, 2006

News Corp, the group that invested in the popular social networking site MySpace, has invested $13.5 million with Foundation Capital in Simply Hired according to CNET’s News.com. Simply Hired is an ad supported job search engine which searches CareerBuilder.com, Monster and Craigslist.

News Corp is attempted to gain revenue to the classified ads market stream. Foundation Capital was an investor in Netflix as well as NetZero.

News Corp made a great investment at $580 million for MySpace.com. Some believe that the investment is worth somewhere around $5-6 billion now since it is much more popular than Facebook and they are looking around the $2 billion range.

I think this is just another example of Web 2.0 shifting back to the dot-com era. It’s a second chance for people to not only invest in the Internet once again, but to create great products as well.
