Meedio is a company that makes products for the digital home. Their software allows the user to control and manage home entertainment, information and automation systems that run on TVs, computers and PDAs.
Yahoo acquired the intellectual property but not Meedio’s products themselves. Yahoo will use Meedio’s technology to integrate into its Digital Home products. This deal will further push computers into the living room.
It will allow access from a computer or push the media to televisions as well. It will allow Yahoo to push its entire web media to a greater audience. The next few years will be important integrating computing systems with home entertainment units. Microsoft is already pushing Windows Media Editions while Apple is pushing their Front Row software for use with a television.
At some point I see computing changing from just sitting behind a desk in front of a computer. People use some form of computers in their everyday life whether it be a cell phone, music player or navigation in a car for example. As time goes on computers will become more integrated into people’s lifestyles.
