I was hoping to surprise my friend Kristianne at work, by stopping in and grabbing a bite to eat for lunch, but to my surprise she had the day off. She works at Pizza Antica in Lafayette located at 3600 Mount Diablo Boulevard. I decided since I went all the way over there I was going to have lunch anyway.

I started off with a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc, Burton, California 2003. I’m not too knowledgeable about wines, but I have to say it was a pretty good glass. The way I judge food and wine is by how much I like it and not necessarily how good someone says it is. I’ll always have to try it myself and formulate my own opinion. I really think that’s how you determine anything you like.

They have a pretty good wine selection, and since it was the middle of the day, I decided to go with a white wine. I usually prefer those anyway, but like I said we all have our own opinions.

I had the Tomato Sauce, Roasted Garlic, Oregano, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil pizza. The bartender said he didn’t want to discourage my choice but it has no cheese. In any case, he said it was a great pizza. I didn’t know it didn’t have cheese, but I decided to try it anyway.

I ordered another glass of wine and ate my pizza. It was a great combination together. I really enjoyed it. Their pizza was different than your normal pizza parlor, but it was a good change of pace. It’s probably healthier and it tastes good. If you get a chance to go out there I would recommend it and say hello to Kristianne for me.
