I started cooking more the past couple of months and I have a few reasons for doing it. The biggest reason is I live in the middle of nowhere. The closest store or restaurant is a 10-15 minute drive so I’ve been stocking up on groceries and trying to eat more meals here at home. The second reason is I think it’s healthier. I’m able to control my diet easier. For the most part I try not to eat pork and beef. I’ve been doing this for quite a while now, but like I’ve said in earlier posts I’m not always that strict on diet. I’ve heard some people cook because they enjoy it. I’m not one of those people. I don’t mind it, but I don’t really get any enjoyment out of it. I used to cook back in college with my friends Ann and Michaela, and I enjoyed it, but I think it was more the aspect of hanging out with friends as opposed to the cooking part.
One thing that has allowed me to cook more is that I don’t work as many hours. Over the last couple of years I’ve been putting in about 12-15 hours a day more or less and there really wasn’t much time for other things. It was much easier to pick something up and keep working to get things done. I was wasting time preparing meals when I could be being productive and earning money. I think things in my life have changed. My lifestyle is a lot slower. I find myself playing with my pets and watching TV instead of going out all the time. I’m also working less hours. I reached certain goals I was looking for when I started the company and I think I’m at a point where I need more balance.

I had a pretty good weekend. It was pretty productive. I think I could have gotten a lot more work related tasks completed, but I find there’s just not enough time to do everything. I figure if I can get the majority of what I want done on the weekend, it’s starts me off on the right foot for a productive week. Lazy weekends always start off lazy weeks for me. I’m not sure what that is, but it seems like it’s been pretty true over the last few weeks.
I think also there’s been some changes in my life and I’m just now fully getting back into routine. I felt like I lost some of the dedication to my responsibilities, but maybe I just took on a lot of responsibilities in a short period of time. I’m getting used to the adjustment now and hopefully I can continue to be as productive as I once was.
Even getting up early is a chore for me. I’ve been doing it for such a long time, I’m not really sure why it’s so difficult now. I guess I’m getting older and I’m getting tired faster. I also think my laziness has a lot to do with it. If I feel like I’m not as lazy, I know I’m more productive, but more than that when I’m in a lazy state I don’t even have the energy to get stuff done.
Well we’ll see what happens this week. So far so good, but it’s only Monday.

I took the puppies to the vet today. I probably should have brought the dogs and the cats, but I figured I should take care of the dogs first then bring the cats in later. Having dogs can get pretty expensive. I knew when I adopted them they would be and I guess I have to pay double what I usually do since I have two of them. I figure after the initial payments in the first year for adoption, vet fees, and obedience classes the fees will get smaller and smaller as time goes on. I’ll only have to bring the animals in once a year and I’ll just have to worry about food for them.
On top of the fees having young animals is a lot of work. Lots of training. Lots of carpet cleaning, etc. In the end it’s definitely worth it and I’m glad I’m taking on the task. I think it’s also easier on me since my work load isn’t has heavy as it has been in the last few months. I’m pretty happy with them an I enjoy the companionship. All four of them. I’ve gotten a lot of positive comments about my animals and for right now I’m glad that they are all healthy.

I got a chance to take a tour of Alcatraz with my buddy Dogg and a couple of other people. I hadn’t gone for a long time so it was pretty cool going out there and checking it out. You pay for a ticket and that includes admission and a ferry that leaves from Pier 33 which takes you to Alcatraz Island. The weather was pretty overcast which was surprising since it had been really hot and sunny all week.
The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes or so and you can take some great pictures of San Francisco from the boat. When you set foot on the island there is a small bookstore and a brief introduction about the island. They offer guided tours at certain time intervals and also an audio tour which I think most people take. As you can see from my photo, there are quite a few people on the island to explore. We decided to take the audio tour which lasts about 2 to 3 hours depending on how fast your move through different sections and if you decide to pause the audio at times. I like living my life well organized and to a schedule. I feel like I’m more productive in whatever tasks I try to accomplish in a day. As I’ve written before when I get into a routine things seem to happen much more smoothly than if I try to do something without a plan. I always feel like I’ve wasted time if I haven’t used my time productively. I guess I’m not a real believer in “free time” since I’m always making an attempt to always be doing something. When it comes to planning trips, this is no different. Read the rest of this entry »

Well after a few hiccups, the revision to this site is up and running. It has been completely revamped front end to back end with some additions and subtractions throughout. This is the first code run for the new look and feel which is now running on Wordpress. I’m hoping I’ll have some time in the near future to do some code cleanup and fine tune some of the plug-ins I’m using. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently a couple questions have come up regarding getting up early. Why do I get up so early and how do I get up so early so consistently? It was kind of funny when a client on the east coast said you always seem to be on east coast time meaning I’m for the most part available during east coast business hours. I’m not on east coast time, I’m on what I like to say is United States business hours time. I usually get up around 5AM PST and go to bed around 11PM PST. I’ve done this for quite a long time and it’s worked out pretty well for me. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m the kind of guy that likes to stick to schedule. All my projects, meetings, deadlines are all in a calendar and it keeps me organized. It came to a point where if it wasn’t on my calendar it probably was going to be forgotten and end up not being done. As time went on more and more things started filling my calendar and it got to a point where I wondered if I would get everything done. For the most part everything got done, but over the years it has gotten harder and harder to keep on track. Read the rest of this entry »

The past couple of months, I’ve taken up golf as a hobby. Work was taking over my life, and I wanted to start a hobby that could give me more of a balance in my life. A few of my friends play golf, so I decided it’s a sport that I could pick up and it would give me something to do other than work. Read the rest of this entry »
